I've not been coming on this site very often and have not been much of a modder, just interested in mpg improvements just being smart about how I drive or what I add or don't add to my vehicles, but if I remember correctly from Craig Vetter's work, tear drop or rain drop is the best shape for slipping through the air. It looks like Ford's done more rounding of the front end compared to the 2014 and I saw a videos where they talked about all the work they did to subtly reshape the body, yet make some significant aero improvements, but of course it doesn't have a pointy back end and not even really close to a tear drop overall, as I'm sure the marketing folks got the final say.
It seems like it'd be a no brainer (but maybe I'm not thinking of everything from an engineering standpoint) that, since OEMs have already started making rear cameras standard and 360 degree cameras optional, that the external side mirrors could go away, notably reducing drag and making blind spots a thing of the past without a huge increase in cost. Other things I think of are: wheel-well covers that can retract for rain, snow, or mud; and dampening suspensions, but now I'm getting in to things that have probably already been extensively discussed on here that I've missed.
Great site with smart members though. Should have come here earlier and not even messed with the F150 and Ecoboost sites when discussing fuel economy. For the most part, those members are interested in mods that are counter to fuel efficiency; more about the redneck appearance effect and overkill performance. You guys/gals are alot more observant and interesting involving everything mpg related. I just want and need a truck to do some basic truck-like work and could care less about those things that counter the practicality of one.
