I've not been coming on this site very often and have not been much of a modder, just interested in mpg improvements just being smart about how I drive or what I add or don't add to my vehicles, but if I remember correctly from Craig Vetter's work, tear drop or rain drop is the best shape for slipping through the air. It looks like Ford's done more rounding of the front end compared to the 2014 and I saw a videos where they talked about all the work they did to subtly reshape the body, yet make some significant aero improvements, but of course it doesn't have a pointy back end and not even really close to a tear drop overall, as I'm sure the marketing folks got the final say.

It seems like it'd be a no brainer (but maybe I'm not thinking of everything from an engineering standpoint) that, since OEMs have already started making rear cameras standard and 360 degree cameras optional, that the external side mirrors could go away, notably reducing drag and making blind spots a thing of the past without a huge increase in cost. Other things I think of are: wheel-well covers that can retract for rain, snow, or mud; and dampening suspensions, but now I'm getting in to things that have probably already been extensively discussed on here that I've missed.

Great site with smart members though. Should have come here earlier and not even messed with the F150 and Ecoboost sites when discussing fuel economy. For the most part, those members are interested in mods that are counter to fuel efficiency; more about the redneck appearance effect and overkill performance. You guys/gals are alot more observant and interesting involving everything mpg related. I just want and need a truck to do some basic truck-like work and could care less about those things that counter the practicality of one.

There is nothing worse than being ate up... eaten up... that...

I once saw a very short woman park a very large truck. She opened her door, I saw her head poke up, and then she disappeared as she dropped to the ground.

She needed to jump out of the truck.

As for video cameras, it is easy for law enforcement to see if you have side mirrors, but I do not know how they would be able to verify that you had fully operational cameras, were not using the monitor for an iPod stand, etc.

Not that people would be more likely to use cameras than mirrors...

I think you will able to get 30 mpg on the highway once it's broken in and you've done some mods. A tune will net you some gains but the cost and warranty loss probably would not interest you.

Nice truck! It's nearly impossible to find the XL model, and if you attempt to order one, no doubt most dealers would try to get you into a jacked up Brodozer Elite® with MaxBro package Laramie Lariat Platnum edition for $60K.

I bet 30 MPG is not at all out of the question with 91 octane gas. I am able to pull low 30s out of my Parents' 2013 Focuscape with the 2.0L engine and AWD on the highway - running 91.

alignment is key!
I lowered my Q45 3/4" in the front and waited about 6 months to align.....chewed up the tires.

I want to see a speed vs mpg graph for this thing. With a highway rating of 26, it might be able to touch 40 with some mods under ideal conditions!
