Just rolled over 800 miles with just under 1/4 tank showing. Barring some disaster, I should make the 1000 before Friday. Commuting is where my bread-and-butter mileage is, so hopefully this tank will be better than the last one. I did fill to the top of the neck which gives me approximately 1.8 gallons more than a standard fill where I stop at the first shut off.

<sigh> ... Unfortunately, a very bad tank for me this time... only ~52mpg, causing me to drop down to #9 ( ). My explanation is that I could not drive Helga for most of the tank, so it was my wife that drove instead... she is not as good at getting the best FE out of Helga... instead, she enjoys the power of the turbo! Also combined with that, we had some of the hottest days I've experienced here in a long time... some nights the coolest temperature was 80 °F (~27 °C)! And highs at about 110 °F (~43 °C). This might be normal in Arizona, but not so much here... it meant that with my wife driving, AC was on nearly all the time!

I suppose, even with all that, it's amazing to get such high FE... my gasoline turbo Roo would get 21mpg at best under similar conditions.

Enough of the excuses; next tank I hope to do better and begin climbing back up to my previous position!

Better luck next time, Nacht.

I chickened out and filled up today. I have to go to probate court tomorrow and absolutely, positively can NOT be late at all. Taking the chance on running out on the way just won't do. Next time.

Still, 71 mpgUS was good enough for 4th.

Jethro, you're my hero ;-) Great number! I don't have many ocasions to drive Berta so my next fill up can be in a month or so... ;-) Still I don't think that I'll manage to beat your numbers.

NachtRitter, I know the feeling I have so much against letting anybody to drive Berta. I just hate to see how much fuel they've burned and how it's ruining my FE.

That was an almost three week fill. Could have gone a bit longer, but better safe than sorry. Less driving is better, but I live in the sticks and work in a town(20 miles away). I'd rather be closer to work, too. We finally have some summer weather and I believe that is what's giving me the great numbers. I really need to get some LRR tires. The H-rated tires are getting a bit thin and I think I can feel a broken belt in one of them.

Also, looks like I won't have have any time to work on the car any time soon as the business I've been trying to get off the ground, for the past two years, has finally started to taxi down the runway, so to speak. Once I have a set date, everyone will be invited to the "Open House". It should be after the first of the year, and as it is a distillery, there should be plenty to drink.

Broke an injector line at 975 miles, had to do an emergency 3 gallon fill to get me through to payday. Stayed at fourth, climbing toward third.

Got another 71 mpgUS tank. I might be able to catch the HYPERCONVERTIBLE, but it's starting to get chilly in the mornings already. 6.3 C this morning.
