It's a CB125S, 1985 MY. ( the donor bike). It has no title, so I'll have to moped-license the final product.

Or you could just not license it. Neither of my bikes have, nor HAD licenses. Never pulled over in 4+ years.

Just my little way of notifying the illegitimate corporation posing as government that I will not do business with them.

I could triangle it and drive it legally on open roads, but need to stay under 45 MPH.. not really a problem, because it only needs to be that slow if there's a cop around... which is never. (No local police, state force is 45 mins away, minimum.)

It's funny, cuz the state police know this property well enough to know not to bother coming out here for much. They know we have guns, and there's a swamp right in front of the house... the unwanted would either be gone, or gone before they even got here. They feel like it's less paperwork for them to do.

125cc and 45mph? Most moped laws stipulate 50cc or less and a top speed of 25mph. Some states also require operable pedals.

You're right! I forgot about the moped rulings in PA... I guess I'll have to get a custom vehicle title for it, or just run it with a low-speed vehicle insignia!

Thank you, Swiftbow!

Turns out, with enough streamlining, I could consider it a scooter, as long as the engine made less than 5 HP in it's normal operating range. Unfortunately, that won't really do, I don't think. Even for a vehicle whose intended top speed is less than highway speed. I think I'll stick with the other idea and just put a low-speed vehicle insignia on it. I don't believe anyone will give me any trouble about it, really. No local cops.

Sounds good Christ. I was just surprised at your thoughts of licensing it as a moped.

Honestly, I could probably get away with it, since there are no inspection requirements for a Moped out here. I doubt I'd ever get caught, either. I just prefer to do things legally, within reason. Some things, I just don't give a damn.

I used to try to see what I could get away with... within reason of course...

but my lucky streak totally ran out and I went through a phase where I couldn't turn around without getting in trouble.

Now I don't tempt fate. Much.

I'm in a pretty laid back area, where as long as you're not hurting anyone, they don't say too much. If you get too many complaints of a legal nature, they come to see you personally.

On top of that, where I'm building my house, there are no law officials. Only the state police, which are approx 45 minutes away, and could really care less as long as there wasn't any seriously bad things going on.

I mean, if you kill someone, they'll be there. Then again, given the rash of break-ins that has occurred, and the comments the police got the last time they were at my Father's house, I doubt they'd even bother to come out.

I literally told the officer: "That field there - that's a swamp. All due respect, Sir, by the time y'all get here, the suspect would either be gone, or gone. No two ways about it."

His response, as seems to be normal from the state police that patrol my neck of the woods - "Less paperwork for us, less tax money spent on court cases, and one less **** for brains loser on the streets making everyone's life miserable. Win/Win."

Of course, I won't mention names, because they're not allowed to advocate this form of martial law, but I don't find it surprising that they're tired of coming out this way.
