It has been mentioned on CelicaGts forum that this type of fuel injection returns hot fuel to the tank constantly heating the fuel in the tank, thus making the fuel have less volume when finally being burned on long road trips. (Probably didn't state that right).
Seems logical to me so I am also considering a fuel cooler on the return line to the tank.

Any input would be helpful...

Its spring she's back!

Weather is finally getting better, most of the snow is gone and Iwill be driving her again regularly. Going to pick up some bright yarn and tape, packing tape might work, and am going to focus on rear aero this summer.

Fuel cooler can reduce vapor loss.
Yeah hot fuel is better but not if its evaporated out of the tank.

I GOOGLED thermal expansion coefficient for gasoline.0.000950 is the value given, and at one site, they ran a calc for a 10-degree C variation in temp, which gave 1% change in volume.
Since most tanks are air-cooled,and a very small return volume is mixing with a very large tank volume, and the tank volume is cooled as the car moves, the actual tank fuel temp increase may be insignificant.
A belly pan would change the equation.

Ok, guy claims a 45°C (80°f-160°f)difference between air temp and tank temp, so 4.5% difference in volume would that significantly change mpg?

I'd consider getting two low-cost digital thermometers with remote-sensing thermocouple bulbs (as @ Radio Shack/Fry's Electronics) and pot them into the return line and tank body, and actually monitor the temps real-time.
Or just take a remote infrared pyrometer and sample each location after a stretch of driving.
The numbers would reveal themselves.
Modern cars must deal with Furnace Creek,Death Valley,California,to,arctic Nome,Alaska, and be able to,and does accurately proportion fuel and air even though the fuel itself is at temperature extremes. You might suffer a slight fall-off in fuel density in the summer, but you'd also have thinner air for the car to travel through, for a net highest fuel economy for the year.
Complete vaporization of the fuel is essential to top mpg.Heat can help, whether from a hot-air intake,or heated fuel.

Thankyou , that is as I suspected, though wanted to confirm. I really need to get some hard data on this car. I have been in survival mode for so long I haven't been able to play(financially).

In the process of doing a seafom gas treatment... The car is running better than ever. In other news I ripped the airdam off my Bee when I busted through a 24" deep snow drift getting into my driveway. Lol. Got to fix that. The wifey prefers riding in the Bee rather than the Celica, the heater works, quieter and rides softer.

Got 28.25 mpg last tank...
The seafoam worked!
Trying a old school trick to lean the mixture out by mixing 2stroke oil in the gas @85:1(car is running rich). Going to see how it goes.
