Btw - anyone got the oem "toilet bowl" down pipe flange laying around? I need one to make the turbo adapter pipe.

I think rockauto sells the whole downpipe for about $30 shipped or something, which is kinda pricey but not that bad all things considered since even a free used one will run about $10 for shipping.

Well, for now, I think I'm gonna install the header, and figure out the turbo exhaust situation out side the ride.
I really need to get my 'zorst fixed, and get the car inspected, and I don't have time for tuning and boost right now, plus most of the 2.5" exhaust I have installed will be fine for the turbo.

Struts/coilovers came in today. 5 days from somewhere in Austria... Not bad for 30USD shipping costs.
The setup utilizes dual springs stacked, one is 100 rated (kg? Lbs?), the other is 1020 for all 4 corners.
The struts I ordered were for an mk3, but they're still a bolt in. the only difference is the front upper mounts, but they're solid on these struts anyway. There may be a difference in the diameter of the mount, but I can always compensate for that, as well.
They may be going in as early as tomorrow.

I don't think I'll put it down quite that far, but I want it a little lower than it is now, which is already lower than OE ride height.

This tank of fuel is playing out as I expected: badly.
I've not really been trying to conserve on this tank, rather driving "normally", I.e. no key off, no neutral coast, etc. Of course, the fuel is going down more quickly than previous tanks, or seems to be, anyway.
I just wanted to make sure my efforts were actually getting me somewhere.

THAT'S a turbo... It weighs about 50lbs, and is VNT and twin scroll.
The VNT section is electronically controlled, not sure how to take care of that if I were going to attempt to use it.
The TE04H that I bought seems to be reasonably intact, I just need that clamp for the CHRA, because I don't want to run it without it. Once there is oil pressure on the bearings, the play in the shaft should be minimal.

I think there are some posts on the vwdiesel.net forum on controlling a VNT like that w/ a microchip. Where/how much did you get it? I've been kicking myself ever since I missed out on one for ~$100 shipped a few years ago.

I got it from someone on this very forum, for the cost of shipping, from USPS, which came to nearly $50 alone.
It's basically new, has very low mileage, as it was replaced by another oem unit when the shop thought the turbo HAD TO BE the problem...
If consider selling it, but certainly not for ~$100 shipped.
