Put on some 16" alloy wheels with more energy efficient tires will see how it goes.

This is amazing. I am new to this site and was wondering how you get away with deleting side mirrors? I don't think that is legal where I live.

Laws vary from state to state. I have side mirrors I just have relocated them inside and that works very well 90% of the time except when the van is very full and then I wish I had towing mirrors...lol.

These wheels have helped in an unusual way, since they roll better I find myself using less gas pedal and seem to coast longer helping with hypermiling techniques.

Reduced the weight to 2,700 lbs from 3,000 lbs and looking for ways to reduce it even further. Found this page where a guy got one down to 2,200 lbs. Photos 4
I may use some of the ideas but not go to some of the xtremes as I still use the seats but am looking into changing the seats out to lighter weight seats. I am averaging 33.6mpg right now with a 60% city travels and still have areas I can improve in aerodynamics. I got the alloy wheels for free and the weight reduction I have done so far was free. Don't have any money to spend or else I would have already done the other modifications.

Been a while since I did an update, they started selling alot of gasohol in my area with 10% alcohol and this van did not like it and fuel economy dropped alot down to 25mpg so I sold the van. I got another car and it likes the gasohol much better. Will start a new thread on that car next.

Hey there.

Im assuming your van is a 3.0L and 3spd auto?

I have a 1990 that started as the 2.5/5spd non turbo. It averaged 27 doing mostly 75mph highway, and got 33 if i kept to 55 mph. I have since put a turbo on it and am now planning to completely ruin the mpg with a roots-supercharged 3.0 swap. Actually, i am hoping to be able to mod it back to where it started and avg 27mpg with a lot more power.

I had a 96 3.0/3spd van that seemed to get 25mpg stock.. until i figured out the electronic odometer was randomly adding miles when you turned the key on!

Getting 27-30 from a 3.0/auto van is impressive. Keep up the good work. And if you get serious about your turbo plans, head over to Turbo-Mopar.com for those questions.

Oops, just read you got rid of the van! Well, ill leave this here for any other old dodge van people. I DD a 50mpg car with no mods now so i cant lay blame for moving away from the van!
