Nope, I dropped my camera a few weeks ago and have used all my extra cash buying old cars I don't need! I'll borrow one to get some pics of the Jetta and I'll see if I can get some of the truck too.

Only run synthetic oil in a TDI. Change it every 10K miles..... uh 15000 KM

Big +1 on the timing belt.

Also check the turbo linkage. They often are set too fast. Fred's TDI Page. TDIClub.com. VW TDI Enthusiast Community has a good how to on the turbo linkage.

Can't wait for pics and KPG#s

He has an IDI, non turbo, not a TDI.

Whoops, forgot the TDI came out in 1996 (?)
Misread the earlier posts.

Check the internal IP pressure, you'll probably need to reset it (Timing advance depends on fuel viscosity, which is lower with ULSD). Replacing, or at least keeping an eye on the seals is also a good idea. ULSD doesn't have the aromatics that kept older seals swollen and mostly leak free. People also like to machine the pump for more advance so they can retard idle more to quiet the engine. And get some new nozzles for the injectors, if they get really bad they can start screwing up the precombustion chamber cups and so on.

Just did some reading on ULSD, it hadn't occured to me that it could cause problems with the pump etc. Thanks for the heads up!
