Turtle 1995 Honda Civic VX Introduction

Hey everyone,

I just found this forum after my recent purchase of a 1995 Honda Civic VX. I searched all over the country for one in good shape and finally found one in Illinois. I decided to have it shipped down instead of flying up and driving it since I wouldn't have a chance to inspect the car before committing to driving it for 12 hours home.

Thankfully the car was in great shape and I'm very happy with my purchase. It has 258k miles but the previous owner put in a used JDM D15Z1 so the motor has about 100k miles on it. The previous owner took excellent care of the car, having all the maintenance done on time. I also just got the tags for the car so I haven't had a chance to drive it outside the neighborhood yet.

Congrats on finding a nice VX. I'm envious. It's getting harder & harder to do that anymore.

Have you owned/driven one before? Any plans to modify it? Anything you can do to reduce rolling & aero loads to expand the lean burn "window" will really make this car shine (even more).

Also, feel free to make 4 "dummy" posts if you want to get past the 5-post limit for pics.

Welcome to the forum!

Moogle, welcome to our abode

Where are you located in NC? I happen to be 45 minutes south of Raleigh. It is awesome to know that there is a well maintined VX in my state.

I do hope you're planning to modify. We have a VX that has been hogging the #1 spot of highest fuel economy for quite a while now. Him and his 90 mpg...(yes, I'm calling you out Donkey CRX)

Thanks! I had almost given up on finding a VX in good shape then decided to check eBay as a last resort. I've never owned or driven one before, but I did have a '89 Civic hatchback before. I do have some plans to modify it, but I'm just working on getting it up to par first. I've already had the valves adjusted (they were really loose), fuel filter replaced, and cleaned and detailed it. I found out the master brake cylinder is going bad so I ordered that, and also a few o-rings to stop a small oil leak. After that, it'll be time to mod! I plan on replacing most of the suspension to reduce the roll and lower it just a tad. After that we'll see what happens.

Hello and thanks! I live right outside of Burlington, about 45 minutes west of Raleigh. I'm glad I could bring such an awesome car back to NC! Wow, I can't believe they got that kind of mileage. Does he have a build thread on here by chance?

I've drove through there on my way to Greensboro and Charlotte. It is great for high mpgs due to the hilly terrain. It allows for more downhill coasting than the coastal plain does

Here is The Donkey CRX's thread about the 90 mpg VX -> http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...avy-28815.html

It is nearing 400 post long, so you will want a couple hours alone to read over and sponge up the awesomeness

OG VX also has a thread you might be interested in. He is getting great mpgs and has some beautiful work! -> http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...ing-29692.html
