My deep cycle is behind the passenger seat. Hasn't killed me yet! I should at least bolt it down!

From what I've read, several Optima battery models have a port for venting; it wouldn't be a bad idea to use it if yours does.

If it's a sealed lead acid battery you should be fine if not try to find a sealed battery box with a vent tube you can run through the floor

Thanks everybody all for your input! I have a regular lead acid battery, so i'll have to make a vent port for it.
Compression test coming this weekend, so we'll see how good (or bad) the engine is.
55.6 MPG on the commute to work today!

Yeah, these cars are terrible at gliding: lightweight, and relatively poor aero.
Since the pulse is so efficient, anything you can do to improve the glide makes a HUGE difference in overall numbers. LRR tires and as many aero mods as you (or your s/o) can stand.
Hope your compression test goes well this weekend.

Compression test results are in!
I'm elated to report I think I've got a healthy engine!
Spark plugs don't appear to have any fouling
Compression test
Cylinder 1-3 DRY
Cylinders 1-3 WET
Next up:
Clean EGR valve
Replace Pcv valve
Oil change
Then ecomodding time!
