I'd like to have it, but my wife says I'm not aloud to buy any new vehicles at the moment...This looks like a real solid buy though..

+1 for a solid purchase.

Looks to have sat-up for a bit,and the mileage is high but if the motor is sound and doesn't burn any oil that's a great deal for $1400.I have a HF and would love to have a HX,they are way more comfortable than a CRX(at least mine)and are OBD-2...should sell quickly on CL.

Finished assembling this afternoon and took her for a spin. Clutch grabs nice and low. Drove nice on my gravel road, afraid to go further with no plate. I'm tempted to plate it instead of the Vibe because I think it would be a fun new hobby to see what kind of mileage I could get with it. Anyone know? Can a 97 leanburn get as good as a HF crx? My best in my old HF was 67mpg.
Here is a couple of pics with the new fenders n lights..

There was a Cali and a federal ECU for the HX. Lean burn was still not allowed in Cali, though I understand the first gen insight had lean burn and was it was available in Cali. The easiest way to determine if you have the Cali or the Fed HX is to look at the upstream O2 sensor. 5 wires = Fed (and lean burn) while 4 wires = Cali (and no lean burn).

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

5 wire O2 sensor (sorry California), egr, D16Y5 block. Definatly a lean-burn.

edit: forgot to mention, the hood came from a 50 states car and is stickerd as such. Good luck sneaking that past the smog police. "but, but, look..it says 50 states right here on the underside of my hood "

Reduced!

Well, I have to sell one of my gas mizers. Dropping the Civic because I plated the vibe. Driving mighty easy on the vibe with the clutch slipping. I originally put her on Craigslist for $1850 but dropped it to $1500.
Still hoping someone interested in the mileage she is capable of buys it tho.

it's a deal for a good running HX (I think)

Macco used to "paint any car for $99.95" didn't they? Probably showing my age. Actually, in proper form of ecomoder driving you will always be behind everyone you know anyway. In their rearview mirror this civic looks like one color already.
