The second tank was completed a few days ago.

This was 100% the Burd driving, and she was on shifts that involved driving in the middle of the morning rush hour (lots of crawling traffic)

The result?

A none too shabby 55.71mpg (imperial)

307.7 miles, 25.11L Derv consumed.

Spent yesterday running about in this with the windows down due to the heat (23 degrees Celsius is Scotland!)

Noticed that the buffering from having the windows open is really terrible - especially about the b pillar.

Not good. Wonder if it is related to the aerodynamics?

It definitely is. My work van buffets badly, makes my ears hurt even at low speeds. My Insight buffets very little until over 70mph, and my Fit does not buffet at all so far as I can tell.

What happens when you blow air across the top of an empty jug?

Open the rear windows a bit

It's where the archaic (and out of place on a 5 door) push-out rear windows on the up! shine - great for ventilation

This car is a very pragmatic approach to aerodynamics and compact packaging.

I want to admire it more than I do.

You need to adjust your torsion value. like this and you need also vag com cable. It will do miracles to your low end torgue and fuel consumption.

If you want to get better ecu program I can help you out on that too for little cost.

This tub is now at 187132 miles, and with the Burds Clio getting an MOT, it's now passed to me for a daily.

I'll be doing 50-60 miles a day, and hoping for decent MPG.

Currently the average mpg is 55.46.

It's had 2 front tyres (the correct size) and that has lead to the TC occasionally being grumpy as the rear tires are larger.

Coolant loss is monitored and topped as needed (usually once every couple of weeks)

Let's see how it does..

I've one experience of tuning TDI engines, and have the cables/mapping software - I may play about with it at some point
