Don't be sorry... just know that real-world results and testing prove me to be correct and you to be wrong. I have a real-time tracking interface that also tracks the knock count sensor, and even with the worst gas sold in America, my car doesn't engage the knock sensor when the timing is properly advanced.

ok

ok
so here we have another car whose owner has / had the same opinion expressed by your self

he no longer has that opinion

most cars when driven at WOT will show 1 or 2 kw retard on one or two cylinders at close to max calculated load , no car when operating at cruise in good condition at 40% calculated load shows knock retard of this magnitude ...
unless
the
system
has
been
tampered with .

if you have tampered with your system and advanced your base ignition timing
and
your system can not perform as graphed above
your system has a serious problem

Explain this:

Compare Side-by-Side

The only thing that changed between these two years was the ECU programing, which can be seen and manipulated by the same software that the tuners use. The primary change was advancing the ignition timing by 10-20 degrees across a wide range of the load/rpm bands.

As you can see, the mileage increased... apparently the knock did too?
