It may require some other mods at the head and the engine bottom for the oil to run to the oil cooler in order to fit it into a genuine version, not really plug n' play.

So if it's that easy to fit it may worth a try.

Well, not so much.
I guess it very much depends on the conditions you happen to ride in ...
My personnal failure was not due to engine temp but most likely oil pump premature death ...

Screamin deal on the GZ! Used bikes seem to be unusually expensive in western Washington state for some odd reason. Especially since it is so flippin wet here.
I flipped one a few years ago to make a few bucks. It was suprisingly comfortable for my 6' 190lbs and competent on the urban freeways, coming off the 1000cc Concours. It is what started me on the smaller-is-more-fun line of bikes I subscribe to now.
If I were to buy another I'd probably change the handelbars to a superbike bend and add a small windshield. Curious to see what effects you'll see from taller gearing, eventually.

Oh, I keep coming back to thinking of the GZ for a streamliner. The low seat height keeps frontal area low, the engine is the right size, with well placed air ducting to the engine (with an oil cooler) it should be fine.
Old Mech, I know you don't need another streamliner project, but I'm guessing you're destined for yet another one.

This bike represents all I like in a bike. Single cylinder, single carburetor, 5 speeds and a fairly long stroke in relation to bore size which provides good low end torque and better efficiency, almost dirt cheap.
I may at some point try some streamlining but hopefully by that time my 3 wheeler project will be roadworthy, hopefully by next summer. At that point my two wheeled riding may end so mods and streamlining may not happen since I will probably sell both of the remaining bikes to pay for the work on the 3 wheeler.
So far that has worked out great. Assuming the estimated mileage for the 3 wheeler (thanks aerohead) is close to the real world figures, it would take a lot of work to get a bike to the same MPG.
Bottom line is the bike is a transitional means to provide me with high MPG until the 3 wheeler is roadworthy. At that point I will probably sell both bikes. In the span of 18 months that will provide me with close to $12k in funding while giving me low cost transportation at practically no cost other than insurance and fuel.
If successful, the 3 wheeler may even replace the Fiesta, leaving the truck for hauling stuff and nasty day driving.
regards
Mech

Same height here and about 15 more pounds. I started recently riding again on a 125 CC Kawasaki Eliminator. Moved up to a few Honda Rebels, then some 500 CC bikes. Now I am back to a 250 CC bike.

Can you link your 3 wheeler build thread ?
I am curious to see it.
