Correct, for a minute I was thinking in terms of CdA, which now makes me very suspicious of the Escort's low Cd number.
Although I'll admit the Escort must have a low CdA number compared to most of the cars on the road today based on it's size alone.
Maybe the author of the article made the same mistake? That would not account for the published Cd numbers though.
Mystery.

No mystery; the Cd is the Cd. CdA would be a very different number- too different to be confused with Cd.

I think you got it right there (the bold above). The '12 Mustang is better aerodynamically than the '05 version, which was even boxier. I know first hand the '05 car was all about retro styling, not aero.

Absolutely zero progress! Each evening I plan to do my underbody at my local shop, but then he is occupied with a vehicle. We are tentatively planning today...
But I am putting off the kammback until my underbody is done. I am torn between doing it or not, but I still really want to complete it. I have all the materials I think I will need. I'll see more after I finish the underbody and I can evaluate my coroplast supply.

No pictures? I thought that we were friends!
Those would have been better when it was on the lift, of course...
I guess that I should have thought of that before...
Even though the mechanic did it, will you please describe the materials that you bought and how he did it?

I have been crunched for time, and the few photos I was able to take were while he was dropping it, as we were rushing. And, they are on my mobile phone.
Long story-
Planned to take an hour, as he was supposed to help/do it.
He didn't help, and it was up too high and I was without my tools/equipment.
SO, it took almost two hours. I used three poly carbonate portions.
Rear was a four by eight piece- cut to slide up and into my rear valance.
The next was four feet wide, but I don't know the length-it was two inches over lapping my rear panel, and up to the cross bar just behind my engine-so only the front panel needs to be removed for an oil change.
The front panel was 32 inches by 26ish.
I just used metal pieces to attach it. I made six cuts in the board for one attachment, as it was in a shape like an E, except there were two =, and one |
So my metal pieces looked like this:
|=
Then I placed it underneath, and ran the zip tie though the board, over the component on the vehicle, back through the board, and secured, the metal piece closest to the ground, then board, then car underbody.
The front piece uses four attach points, the second uses five, and the third uses seven. Images to come!
