Looking good! If it were me, I'd have the STi and the Stars showing through- but it looks good.

That'd be too cool. I love it.

Building front lip
The lip only extends down to the same height as the OEM front tire spa (which is the lowest part of the under body)
Not sure if I should leave the middle open so that the air is channeled down the middle of my under belly tray? Or should I extend the lip all the way across, creating a small air dam?

Totally not an expert, but I think conventional wisdom would say to extend the lip all the way across.
Also, since you've made the underbody of your STI much flater than it was before, have you considered fabricating some rear diffusers? Maybe like this: DIY Rear Diffuser : The Writeup - NASIOC ?

Thanks for showing me that write up! Yes, diffusers is ultimately in my planned mods, however, i never started making them yet because i think i read that they actually create downforce, which is bad for fuel economy.
None of the "extreme" eco cars on here or from car manufacturer concept drawings utilize rear diffusers. I am still doing more research.

Wow, nice find! That's something I'd like to try for my Cruze as well. I really have no experience with this kind of stuff, still in the reading and planning stage for the majority of it (especially since it doesn't appear most people have done anything to a Cruze). I wonder how he was able to curve the aluminum frame he built for that diffuser.
Also, if you had a diffuser in the rear, might that affect the decision to extend the front lip or not?

All the way across. The car on the left below has the factory JDM STi front lip; it fills in the center gap. I can confirm this because I have one on my car.

I really look forward to your build. That other one looks fantastic, but there isn't much of a build for it. I appreciate your dedication to tracking your progress.
