Dang. My grille block is just pieces ripped from cardboard boxes stuffed behind the grille.

Line the back side with 2 layers of fiberglass and resin. I that should allow the whole cover to retain its shape and add rigidity.

Since you'll be doing the backside, no need to worry about "finishing" with sanding and bondo.

Us ecomodders all start from the same place... My first lower grill block for the sti was coroplast Velcro on. I thought I was super ingenious! Lol

The first upper grill block was coroplast wedged between the bumper and hood, lol.

I don't think I'll go further than that on this car. The cardboard is prettier than the car.

I've got a week off before starting my new job on 12/1. Plans are:

1) Shave off 1-1.5" off the lower grill block to lower engine water temps
2) front under belly tray
3) reattach inner and outer side skirts
4) (if i have time) "canoe style" front wheel deflectors
5) (if i have time) fiberglass rear wheel boat tails (gorilla tape has disintegrated over time)
6) (if i have time) make some Vertical spoilers on the rear bumper corners...kinda like MetroMPG's civic

Yep! Looking forward to a week of working under the car, fiberglassing, sanding, multiple trips to Home depot....

Switching careers from Mortgage refinancing to Accounting (way more stable).

The new job is in Santa Monica, CA....which equates to a 100mi/day daily commute. Therefore, i've decided to commute via train/bus. This will save TONS of miles of wear and tear on my car

Front underbelly tray

Front underbelly tray
I just used leftover scraps of coroplast and aluminum bars and svrews from my middle / rear undertay projects.

1) removed OEM splash guard
2) located existing holes in the chassis to create a frame

3) I decided to make it a 3 part undertay so that I can easily remove one side to easily access the oil filter

4) all done... Not my best work, but hey, I only used leftover scraps

Initial coast down tests didn't show a big gain, but perhaps because the car already had an OEM splash guard. The main advantage now is ease of access to the oil filter for oil changes.
