I played around with the saturation and such on that linked Gizmodo image.
The car really does have a nice look to it.
It seems they lost the cheap tacked on look of the first gen. , and it looks more refined.
Much like a cross between and Acura and a Civic in looks.

What do you mean? To me it lost its personality and uniqueness, now just a nice car with a stupid grille.
My opinion of Chevy styling updates:
Camaro: better
Corvette: better
Impala: amazingly better
Malibu: better
Silverado: terribly worse
Volt: worse

Tim says: looks kind of like a Civic.
Yup. I can see it -- a slightly blingy Civic.
Much less interesting/unique than the 1st Volt, but that's obviously what they're going for. The early adopters happily bought the "weird looking one"; this one probably has more mass appeal.
Early specs:
- 5 seats (vs. 4 in current Volt)
- 50 mile EV range (vs. 38)
- 18.4 kWh pack (vs. 17.1)
- 41 mpg combined in charge sustaining mode (vs. 37)
- 102 mpg-e (vs 98)
- faster acceleration, 0-60 in 8.4 seconds
2016 Chevy Volt arrives with 50-mile EV range, 41 mpg

Its definitely civic-ish, but I like the look. Love the functional improvements they made too. Next question... price? I suspect they've reduce it.

I take back all my remarks against the styling, that is amazing!

Wow that does look really good. I need it in dark purple, please. Also, only 50 miles? Was kind of expecting 60+ but whatever. The EPA is also kind of -meh-. Only 41? I'm sure a hypermiler could get 50+ easy with proper driving style.

Anyone else notice the frontal area on that shark fin antenna ?
Also, those open spoke wheels really do need some smooth covers !

Agree with both points.
I always thought those antennas on the roof look dumb, and how many people actually pay for the tin-sounding sat radio anyhow? It should be an option, not standard equipment. The only thing I can figure is that the sat radio company pays for the vehicle to have the equipment, so the manufacturer includes it at no expense to themselves.
Since the friction brakes will rarely be used on the Volt, moon discs should be fine.
