Reminds me of a character in Robt. Anton Wilson's The Illuminatus Trilogy. "Markoff Chaney – a midget on a cross country mission to spread chaos"

His modus operandi was to put up signs you might expect -- with an extra word inserted to make it ambiguous. You might be interested in Wilson. Here's what Wikipedia says about his economic thoughts.

Wilson favored a form of basic income guarantee; synthesizing several ideas under the acronym RICH. His ideas are set forth in the essay "The RICH Economy," found in The Illuminati Papers.[40] In an article critical of capitalism, Wilson self-identified as a "libertarian socialist", saying that "I ask only one thing of skeptics: don't bring up Soviet Russia, please. H. Douglas, and Buckminster Fuller.[44] Wilson also identified as an anarchist and described his belief system as "a blend of Tucker, Spooner, Fuller, Pound, Henry George, Rothbard, Douglas, Korzybski, Proudhon and Marx.

I'm clearly unlearned on the subject matter. My sense is that UBI is unavoidable, which is a different proposition than stating it as a clear "good". There are no solutions, only trade-offs.

And sometimes what looks like a saving may turn into waste. Buying perishable food items for a lower price is quite tricky if you're not planning to cook it quick enough to prevent it from deteriorate. Well, having dogs at home often leads to fewer food being disposed of as garbage...

A better world is possible. If the nation were a corporation, and each citizen a shareholder, then every year the government would send us money instead of the other way around.

They really do! Definitely on my bucket list for my next car in 7-10 years when it's time to replace my Prius C.

Combined Mode: 32.6 km/L - 13.9% higher than the 2.0L
City Mode: 29.9 km/L - 15% higher than the 2.0L
Suburban Mode: 37.3 km/L - 20.0% higher than the 2.0L
Highway Mode: 31.2 km/L - 10.6% higher than the 2.0L

That’s about 73 miles per gallon on the highway with the 1.8L version! Insane

Interesting that a (seemingly) more outdated engine would still make more sense for the Prius.
