2024 Chevy Silverado EV

The Chevy made it onto the cover of May, 2022 MOTOR TREND.
Problem is, no new real data, not presented elsewhere.

It seems like a great truck. Too bad they're a little late to market and they'll probably only sell a few of the base model.

The real question is if it will be as ugly as the current Silverados.

I looks like an Avalanche.

I wouldn't consider it late to market, I bet it ends up in driveways sooner than the Cybertruck.

General Motors corporate policy has been not to innovate, since around 1927.
They'll let the 'other guy' take all the risks, and if the market takes the bait on something novel, they'll join the party later, and with a high value product.
They're extremely capable, and if committees allow, can provide something to shame the competition.
Cybertruck will probably slay them on some metrics, but the Silverado won't look like the 'science project' the Tesla is currently being criticized for.

Releasing the EV in the middle of the cycle of the current generation sounds quite strange. Maybe just a test bed to find out a better setup for an upcoming all-new generation of the Silverado and a more serious commitment to the EV tech? Reminds me what GM did with the hybrid Silverado, at first a mild-hybrid and then switching to full-hybrid, and now there is no hybrid Silverado when it could be a good contender to the hybrid F-150, and eventually also increase its presence on export markets...

At least the 1500 is not bad-looking at all. On a sidenote, I really don't know why the half-tonners nowadays feature a noticeably distinctive look compared to their heavier counterparts, unless the Ram which seems to not differ too much the appearance from a 1500 to a 2500 for instance.

The Silverado EV will be on a complete new platform. (Basically the same platform as the GMC Hummer EV)

It is Ford that is doing a EV version of the current F-150 to be followed shortly by a clean sheet design.

How is the EdisonFuture doing? I feel like none of these companies are prioritizing aerodynamics...

As a glance: The Chinese overlords have prioritized forklifts.

Aptera proposes to ship product in the second half of this year. www.cbs8.com/powered-by-sun-super-efficient-vehicle-soon-to-be-on-road
Quote:
But what makes the Aptera really stand out are the solar panels, which they say could charge it enough to go 40 miles, after say, leaving it in a sunny parking lot at work.

"We've gotten it down to 355 miles per gallon equivalent, which in Evie terms is about 100 Watt hours per mile." said Anthony. "It's four times as efficient as any other Evie on the road and 10 times as efficient as your typical gasoline vehicle."

Priced at a little under $26,000, Anthony says there’s plenty of interest in the Aptera.

He says there’s already over 17,000 pre-orders. The company is hoping to hand over the keys to their first driver by the end of the year. With many sick of high gas prices and earth conscious drivers switching to EVs, the future very much seems to be electric.
Electrification is a half-step. The Xbus is also solar-electric, and taking reservations.

Interesting to say the least that it will run on a platform different from the ICE versions.
