70 MPG US (3.3 L/100 km) challenge (non-hybrid gasoline and diesel cars)

I'm going to record a 70 MPG tank this summer. This is an invitation to anyone else to take that up as a challenge. Get at least one 70 MPG tank anytime between now and the autumnal equinox in late September and you get this picture of a custom hat for the 70 MPG Club. To commemorate our rare and elite status, we will get prizes and get!

Full Tank Average (FTA) gets this picture of a hat:

Get just a Single Run Average (SRA) of 70+MPG and your "grand prize" is this picture of a custom sticker:

THE LISTS OF WINNERS (in no particular order):

1. FTA (Full Tank Average)
PaleCivic (96 Civic DX)
PaleFit (08 Fit Sport)
Winter-beater-Metro (00 Chevy Metro)
BlackFly (98 Metro)
Sport Coupe (92 Ford Tempo GL)
AerocivicLB (92 Civic CX/VX)
The Little Car (00 Chevy Metro)
Nut Wagon (91 Civic Wagon DX)
Daox's Paseo (97 Toyota Paseo)

...others...?

2. SRA (Single Run Average)

Black & Green (98 Honda Civic DX)
GreenTDI (11 Skoda Fabia Estate)
K-sight (00 Honda Insight de-hybridized with a K24 swap)
Mirage #2 (14 Mitsubishi Mirage SE)
... others ...?

I'm guessing de-hybrid-ized cars don't count?

At this point I'll be glad to get my Metro to 50 by the end of summer, right now averaging 38 mpg, but I drive lots of hills and the engine needs a ring job about 40,000 miles ago, I think I have more blow-by than compression.

Even at 38, it has cut my fuel costs nearly in half over driving the Buick I had, and my pickup would cost me nearly 4 times as much if I had to drive it every day.

Hell yes they count. Let's get the unofficial EM 70 MPG Club off the ground with some former hybrids in the mix!

Heck, I'm just trying to hang onto #10 of 10 in the top hybrid list!

Good luck, looks like you've done it once before.

If an extreme P&G short fill counts, I could be in with .38 more mpgs!

Yeah, back in 2014, but that one has always had an asterisk in my mind because it was a short tank. I want a full 10-11 gallon tank.

Okay, that'll count too. a full tank gets a picture of the hat, and a single run gets the below picture of a bumper sticker. Both are exclusive! Get the Ford into the 70 mpg club!

Do miles flat towed behind another vehicle count?

Yessir. And you have not failed to get a 70+ mpg tank since December! Also you are at like 149% of EPA. Pretty amazing. My best tank was probably 130%.

Haha! That's probably gotta be outside bounds for the integrity of this prestigious certificate.
