8th Gen Civic Aero Modding (Update: Trailer)
just thought i would make a thread to collect my ideas.
here is what i'll be starting with....front end could use some work, upper grille block will be first and also the lower one will be partially blocked by the license plate.
Everything i do to the car must be VERY discrete or quickly removable!

Smooth hub caps are a big gain and will not look that odd.

Nice car ! I would think you might could benefit from something like this :
Since the rear glass has a slope that is too steep for attached airflow, you might be better off adding a small spoiler to the roof to trip the airflow.

I've been thinking about the smooth hub caps. I do really like the way they look, just need to get myself started with it.

I would have mentioned the smooth wheels, but you said you wanted mods that were discrete.
To change to smooth wheels would be a very large aero gain, since the wheels that you have now are pretty much like blender blades to the wind. They do look great though.

You could plug up the grille and the area surrounding the fog lights and it would resemble the Volt ( The shape of the top and bottom grilles on both cars are very similar. They appear to have been designed by the same designers trading notes .)

I see that you have vent shades and mudflaps. Could test with and without those. And mirrors maybe. If plain aluminum wheel covers cause hesitance then you may consider clear acrylic covers. I may do that because I have a Mustang GT. Pizza pans would look very out of place on my car.

For the smooth hub caps. Go look in our wiki and you will see the how to and results. This might modivat you to do it. On my car it was worth 1.5 mpg. Then can also be taken off quickly if needed.

i'd say look underneath and see what needs smoothing there, the underside is likely the most aero crude surface and you can't see it so you'r work doesn't have to be perfect, if you give anything a shot of black paint nothing will appear odd.
you may also look into installing additional side skirts, i'm thinking plasic L brackets and 3-4 screws in the bottom of the existing on, perhaps the new skirts could be further inwards still keeping the airflow undreneath the car straight, but less visible from the sides

I second what LunarHighway mentioned about the underside.
Lots of dirty airflow under there. A flat underside is a big benefit, but is also entirely ' stealth '.
The only person that will know it is there is your mechaanic and yourself.
And yes, those rain deflectors on your windows are causing a lot of drag as well as the mud guards.
The mud guards would be better mounted in FRONT of the tire, since they deflect air around the tire.
