Very nicely done! For your indicator light for the fan indicator light, where did you connect the leads for it? At the fuse block or did you just hook the circuit in parallel?

Thank you!
I stuck one lead alongside the appropriate blade of the radiator fan relay, and put the other lead to the exposed frame next to the light behind the plastic panel.

You're welcome! I had a friend help me figure out which blade to tap for the signal. Doesn't the Chevy Cruze have auto-adjusting air intake louvers?
For anyone reading who doesn't know and wants to, there are two pairs of contacts for the relay. You test them for a completed circuit; the pair that does not complete the circuit is the one you're interested in. Then test which of the two sockets that pair of blades goes into does not put out 12v when the radiator fan is off; that's the one to tap for the light.

Here's my similar mod of connecting a fan light to the relay.
In retrospect, the light only indicates when the relay has been triggered by the temperature switch, and the pcm controls the fan from that point. The light would have to be connected directly to the fan to show when it goes on and off.

Yeah, I tested mine in the driveway, just let it idle in drive with the brake on (I have an auto), then once the temp stopped rising I held the brake and revved the motor a little. Light came on with the fan at 204F, went off at 200.
I like your solution of not even running the wire into the cabin, that would have been handy. After not finding any easy way to get the lead through the firewall, I ran it behind the driver front quarter panel and in through the door. Inelegant, but it works.

Most of the extreme mods are often regarded ugly anyway, so as long as it works and saves a few bucks it's perfectly reasonable

Completely agree. Form following function. Though I must say, I'm pleased the sheet metal somewhat matches the color of my car this time, unlike my last vehicle:
I won't let 'standing out' stop me from making aero mods, but it's nice to not stand out as much.
