FYI, Tim (daox) and I talked this over - we can see the attraction to a thumbs-up/+1 button, but we're pretty much in agreement with the points redorchestra made, previous post. We don't care about higher post count, but would rather see people contributing than clicking a +1 button.

I'm also generally reluctant to add 3rd party plug-ins to the forum software. Plus it's another straw on the camel's back in terms of server load & page processing time.

Nothing wong with that! Perhaps with a higher post count, ecomodder will make more money from advertisers. Perhaps more people will be enticed by what a friendly forum this is.
+1

Most people who +1 normally have more to say on the topic. Not to mention when I +1, I like to identify when exactly I agree with. I try to do my best to edit the original quote to specify what I have directed the +1.

I disagree in one specific context; when the post is old or at least a little stale. Bumping has its own social implication.

EDIT: or actually two specific but similar contexts; the other is a very long thread where the post I wish to favor is under a large stack of other posts. Posting at the end to add +1 might separate my +1 from its context.
