Adding solar water to a rental

My Alaskan friend found a place to rent for herself and her two daughters, but after almost a week they still don't have hot water. The owner rented it out before connecting the stove, installing the water heater, or putting in smoke detectors.
He drove up to install the water heater, but said he couldn't figure it out or find a plumber. It isn't in Show Low, it is forty minutes in the direction of Phoenix, so that may be a complication.
He only provided a 5-gallon propane tank and I wonder how long that would last using it for heat, the oven, and possibly hot water.
The owner told my friend to let him know if she finds a plumber or if she needs to move out, he will refund her money.

I just hope that includes her full deposit.

They showered here yesterday and since the girls attend school and my friend works in Show Low they could continue to do so, but when would they need to start?

My friend is a bus driver!

I queried Google regarding my subject and it only had false positives.

Apparently people are exclusively obsessed with solar electricity and few people, if any, care about solar water.

We can calculate that out.
If you only have to heat the water 60 degrees that's 510 btu per gallon. 20lb of propane should heat nearly 600 gallons of hot water per 20lb tank at 75% efficiency.
I'm a bit of a propane pro. Don't use 20lb tanks. It typically costs around $20 to fill a 20lb tank, but it will usually cost around $30 to fill a 40lb tank. But a 40lb tank weights over 80lb when full.

Why does it cost more per pound to fill smaller tanks?

Twelve hundred gallons for $30 sounds pretty good, but also using propane for heat and the stove would make a difference--probably more the heat than the stove.

This guy compared a solar water heater and using solar electricity to heat water: He said that straight solar worked better, but took up more space.

It was easier to set up, though.

He also said the solar heater panels cost 80% more:

Is this just until the owner finds a plumber?

That's a lot of weight, complexity and cost. Consider a five-gallon camping shower. duckduckgo.com/?q=camping+solar+shower&ia=web

Service charge.
They charge $10 to fill the tank, then put about $10 worth of propane in a 20lb tank. A 40lb tank is $10 to fill and holds about $20 worth of propane.

Ah. Thank you for that information. Please pass it onto my friend if you see her.

Mom said that if I wanted a Xistday cake I needed to bake it myself. I chose a recipe and was going to bake it before driving to see my one client today.

At 12:21 my friend told me when her girls were getting out of school and asked if that worked for me.
No "I know it's your birthday, the last minute, and I refused to discuss this, but can you pick up my girls?"

I ran to the store to get the one thing I absolutely needed and then got in 2 lines to pick up someone else's kids.

I told Mom that I needed her to watch the girls while I saw my client, but when I needed to leave Mom was grocery shopping at Walmart.

Not only was she not home when she was supposed to be, but she wasn't even home when I finished with my client, who was kind enough to work with me through Zoom today.

My friend was. She watched me fill up a big box with Mom's living room clutter.

Since I was supposed to leave I put the cake in the crock pot. The instructions said 2-2.5 hours on high, but it was ready after 1:45.

I didn't have the time to follow the recipe I wanted. I found a boring vanilla one and spread a cup of frozen mangos on top.

I needed 2-3 cups, but there were other problems.

Maybe that is why most recipes call for regular and not cake flour.

While I was washing dishes Mom had my brother and the girls make me little cards.

The girls wrote that they love me and the younger one kept hugging me, but she would probably hug a mugger.

The friend said she needed to be at work at 0545.
"So, see you at 0530?"
"Okay."

Except she sent a message that she would drag her kids around while she drove her route.

Is this because her daughters told me they love me?

It's your birthday today?

There's a decent chance my daughter's birthday will be today, but possibly tomorrow, depending on staffing availability at the hospital.

That could turn into a three against one situation. I believe the expression is 'blood is thicker than water...'
