Yeah, that salt gets slick above 200 MPH!

Unless you got your aeromods dialed in, it can spell big time trouble for you.

Here's the result of changed the rear wing angle a couple of degrees, to lessen the downward force on the rear deck...

Hondata RSX 227 MPH Spin (very comparable to the CiViC above)

Considering the speed, that spin was REALLY non-dramatic... did he even spin or just fishtail a bunch? it went back and forth.

As for the aero mods on it... looks great for racing and top speed, but does that huge deck lid extension do more harm than good for FE? I'd think it was high DF oriented to keep it planted.

No, he spun but the chute straightened him out...

There's a video out the ass-end somewhere, but I'm too lazy to go look it up.

Really, I *think* 225ish is about it for most door slammers, regardless of HP, aero mods, et cetera!

Here's the same guy at El Mirage - almost spun here too - prepping for Bonny.

It isn't the video I'm looking for... but it gives you the idea!

225 is def not the limit to door slammers at all, heck there are guys doing the texas mile at 229 i believe, that was the fastest car there , which was a 1500hp supra in a mile! So id say if a car like that had the same stuff done as the civic it would hit close to 300 no prob.

300 no prob, eh?

The fastest door slammer I know about is the mighty Bugatti (VW) Veyron EB16.4

Bugatti Page

It's got a quad-turbocharged V-16, 1000 HP, 922 lb/ft torque, and costs $1.6M.

Quote:
Normally the EB16.4 is electronically limited to 233 mph for the safety of its owner. To realize the promised top speed of 252 mph, the owners need to take their EB16.4 to Volkswagen's Ehra-Leissen test track. After a safety check, Bugatti will insert a second key to its dashboard to turn on the "top speed mode". In this way, the ride height drops further to 65 mm front and 70 mm rear, the front diffuser closes and the rear spoiler scale back to 2 degrees only. As a result, drag coefficient lowers to 0.36, allowing the Bugatti to exploit the remaining 20 mph.
I'd say the chances of anybody beating that anytime soon are are nil!

An aero mod'ed 6Gen CiViC coupe @ 210 MPH seems much more practical to me!

Plus, '88-'00 Honda CiViCs have double-wishbone suspensions, just like the Bugatti EB16.4, McLaren F1, and Ferrari F50.

BTW, the Bugatti EB16.4 FE is 5-10 MPG (2.1 MPG @ WFO)...

Remember, the total drag increases with the cube of velocity (linear rolling resistance plus squared air resistance). Therefore, you'd need:
300^3 / 229^3 = 2.25 times the power. 2.25 times 1500 hp is a 3,375 hp supra. Not likely.

Even to take the Veyron from 252 to 300 mph would require an upgrade to 1688 hp.

What i was saying is that if aeromods were done to a supra that i am not sure of its aerodynamic profile but there were was the jun supra that did 249 i believe with 1200 hp i think, actually i think it was less, so i think it would def be possible for a supra to def eclipse the veyron. The supra in stock for has a .31 drag coeffcient and with some kind of body mods could drop even more, the supra weighs a lot less has more power and has better aero factory. Heck they could easily put a 2000hp race motor in the supra and hit 275, i am def not being completely accurate with the speed but it would def do more then 250

Hrm...

CoD on the Bugatti Veyron EB16.4 = 0.36

CoD on a 6Gen Honda CiViC Coupe = 0.34

I wonder what the CoD on the coupe in the first post is (with aero mods)
