very nice build thanks for all the R&D I have a toyota techoma that only gets 21-23mpg so I am looking for the cool and useful aeromods that pay off and this fits the bill thanks

also meaning no disrespect . Have you looked into the 50dollar paint job on the interweb Im doing it on my 55 vw can be custom colored to match & easy

Since you have a Tacoma...you don't have any stake pockets in yer bed so you'll have to find a better way of attaching the aero cap to yer Tacoma.

All I can say is to do as much brainstorming as possible before you commit to materials and start building. I believe there was someone on here that did build an aero cap fer his Tacoma using plywood but didn't have a working hatch. Search is yer friend.

Painting my truck isn't important to me. It's a former work truck with all the dings and dents you might expect. If I do git to the point of painting, I guess I will go all in...

your paint is not that bad and all my trucks are used for work also I was thinking about the rain and rust. Im on the coast so I keep up with the nicks &scratches . Now I use wood blocks to sandwich the bed edge for attachment it gives me something to attach to and is easy

On the leg from San Antonio to Ardmore, OK...I got close to 26mpg. From Ardmore to Wichita, I got an estimated 27.6mpg. Driving with an added 200lbs above my standard load (350 lbs) doesn't help when yer back into city driving...it really drags the mileage down in stop/go traffic.

You might find out that yer wood sandwich might not hold up to the forces being applied to the aero cap once you git it built. You might want to consider another method of attachment. Metal clamps would work...

Luckily I was doing mine in steps so when things starting failing I was able to recover and screw things down. My stake pockets are a real blessing in keeping the aero cap supports in place.

The sandwich works well. basically a clamp that cannot be pulled up and off, it has to be loosened and removed by lowering it ,the metal is the meat the wood is the bread and screws to hold it togeather .when I figure out how to post pictures its going to help (ALOT)
