I've realized that if you really want to optimize your car, you really have to plan the year before and have everything ready through the winter.
Here's a good photo set of the days events, i'll pick some highlights later on.

Uploading my own in a little bit. E-mailed Bob about the other photographers images, and getting the results- haven't heard back yet.

Not a shameless plug- I posted over 160 photos of the GGP to facebook. If I try to post them on the GGP, I have to do them one at a time...not happening. I tried tagging GGP, but facebook says it doesn't qualify as a page to be tagged. Sent in a problem report to fix it, but it hasn't happened yet.
Warning- the following link is the Aerostang facebook, but I am not tagging my personal facebook on here.

Departing the hotel - Friday April 11th..
The following morning at the hotel I got up very early - sleep was minimal likely due to a low budget subtitled women's wrestling movie that was on a station I've never heard of.... This may have been the earliest known precursor to GLOW (Gorgeous Ladies of Wrestling)! The two main wrestlerettes had some interesting attire on. One looked, and was shaped, like a badly aging Robin (from batman) and the other looked like Catwoman who may have seriously outgrown the taunt black latex suit garnished with a bandit-style mask... wow... sooo hawt......
I had the parking lot to myself as I unwrapped the Centurion of it's plastic cocoon. It was during that time I got a real good look at the Aerostang (UltArc's ride) that was a couple of spaces behind and to the left of where I was. - WHAT A MACHINE! - On the surface it looks kinda like a pimped out Mustang but a sharp eye soon picks up on all the attention to details. Very tasteful - very well done! Not only does it look killer - it is! His mpg is better than my '07 Hyundai 3dr (40 best vs 46-ish), and has the option of passing cars at will (I don't).
Jumping ahead a bit to trackside, I got to visit with UltArc and his navigator. Nice folks and the real deal! I was hoping after the event the Stang would get 3 laps all to itself - that car begs to be driven around Watkins Glen track in the most non-green way possible! Totally awesome and I'm with Sheepdog 44 regarding the honorable mention statement.
Leaving the hotel with my good friend Pete leading, then mloveland78 and co-pilot in the Civic VX, followed by Sheepdog 44 and the pizza from Massachusettes in the Insight, Myself in Centurion, and UltArc and navigator as the anchormen in this relay.
This band of merry ecomodders were now enroute to Valero for the official fill up for the 2014 Green Grand Prix - and it seemed we couldn't get there fast enough!!!
More to come.....

Thank you, Jerry!
I was trying to think of how to slip you some cash for letting us stay in that room (rather than sleeping in the Mustang..lol), but when you won Most Efficient Vehicle, and got a grand...I thought a very sincere
Thank you, sir.
would suffice
Your articulation helps burn this into my personal history. I am shortly going to update the Mustang thread, on how it went down for us. I was trying to remember how well we sweeped the awards ceremony. The only non Ecomodders I can think of would be the Jetta estate diesel, the F250, Illuminati and the Miati.
Bob said he is hoping to have the full record done and up by Wednesday.

I haven't searched for a Jetta like that, but I would think they would have chatted more. I hope they feel welcome to join in, they were impressive on the FE front, but some modifications would help it

You guys did great, all those wins!
And I love the Centurion.
The Aerostang is really impressive, basically equaling Prius mpg in a car that, well, it's a Mustang!
Driving the green '96 Accord with 2.2 liter I-4, I calculated my mpg at 53.69 for the track event. I have no idea if the GGP will come up with the same score or not. Not bad for that size/weight car, but not good enough to win agains the likes of mloveland78's awsome Civic VX, running in the same class.
We had a blast driving the course though. It didn't take too many laps to work out the Accord's ideal speed to hit Turn 1, right after the grandstands. 43-44 mph! 41 was OK too. Entering at 43-44 achieved a max speed at the bottom of that hill of just over 50, which enabled efficient use of 5th gear on the upgrade.
We had decided early on to strive for ideal lap times at the track, to see if we could score well in the TSD rally portion of the morning track event. No word on those times from Bob Gillespie yet... I will ask him.
