42 cars is a lot for that track, the way we like to drive. Plan on dealing with some "traffic". Try to pace yourself as needed so you don't end up wanting to coast but there's a clog of cars in front of you.
Usually, some drivers don't show, and some drop out part way through. Sometimes some of the battery powered ones don't have enough of that Energizer Bunny thing going on!

Lol, one wheel skirt. I am not laughing at you, rather, I am laughing at the idea of doing every mod one can before the event and showing up with one wheel skirt, three moon discs, so on. No disrespect to you, the post made me LOL for some reason.
And thank you, I really hope it holds! lol
I agree about the track. I do have some questions on us driving. I plan on getting pretty close to 60, and dropping pretty low- from the way the rules read, exceeding 60 is a serious violation. BUT, the only slow penalty is if the average speed is below 30. So average 31, and your cool. It is kind of lame for me, because my baby loves the 45-70 range (P&G), and I don't want to risk a penalty.
I know we can not be directly behind a car closer than two lengths, but are we talking Excursions or Coopers? And I hope passing it okay. Some images (with less cars) seem like a big train cruising around the track.

In the past, you could not pass in curves. That rule not always followed. Not sure if that rule still holds. I think the slow speed penalty is below 35.
Bob G reviews the rules in drivers meeting before the event starts.
Target avg speed is 45. I will EOC between about 40&55. I can't see a car doing over 60 much of the time.

How I got 75MPG at the Glen
It starts with having a good car. The Civic VX is ideal for this sort of high speed constant driving. This is what Honda built it for with tall gearing and lean burn. Having a good navigator is also essential, my navigator was helping to keep track of lap times and fuel economy for each lap and suggesting changes to improve. Good driving technique of course is also helpful. Below is an elevation map of the Glen illustrated with the techniques I used. Red is EOC, Blue is DWL, and Green is puttin' the spurs to your pony. Comments welcome of course.
My car close to greatness...

Pretty much a clean sweep. I don't know the exact fill for the centurion, but Bob's sheet said +-200mpg Urba Centurion, 198mpge Illuminati motors. Tie for first place because the margin of error at that level is to high to make an accurate call. Changzuki took home a 1st place trophy and won $1,000!
I wish there was an honorable mention. More Air Less Fuel got 90mpg in the white "Cam" car, the second highest mpg i believe. Unfortunately he got placed in the Exhibition category with Illuminati and the Centurion. While the sole entrants in some category's automatically won with unimpressive numbers.
Ultarc's Mustang did 49.xx mpg. Quite impressive for a 300hp engine that'll sing vrrrrrrrr!
With the exception of Illuminati's electric car, the thing of note was that simple un-expensive gasoline and diesel cars showed up the hybrids by a large margin. 50mpg prii got little claps after it was announced Mloveland's civic got 75mpg. Another diesel (Jetta?) got 60's?.

After I got my award, they announced the Miata that got 38.x mpg, and my navigator (underscore_22) looked at me and said "Wtf? How did they get so little?" Lol.
I can't wait for the data sheets with the full results. VERY interested to see what some of those Prii did- especially the black estate.

Thanks for the updates, guys.
I still wish this event were later in the spring. Too early for me. I'm still exiting hibernation.
