As I say, not impossible to automate, but a devil of a product to do so.
In prison one of the inmates was telling me how much money there was in taking a mold of car parts and using a chop gun to fabricate fiberglass replacements. I imagine he was a wizard. He said he fabricated the burlap sack slide featured at the Oregon State Fair.
Still doesn't answer my question as to why it cost so much for glass mat and resin. Someone's making a million bucks.

Shipping and storage costs. Buy a warehouse full and it gets significantly cheaper but still not the actual cost plus profit. The resin and oxidizer requires storage containers and dedicated specialty tankers, has a shelf life, will actually "go off" after a while.
Even if you build a boat, you don't consume enough to make much of buy.

Saw this today.
Seems like they always need another dollar and another day.
They have adopted the Ukrainian business model.

Sounds much more legit than what's going on there. They could sell stamps you put in a little book and when the book is full, you get a car -- like Germany.

Aptera popularity?
AeroStealth and his wife attended the 'Fully Charged 'EV get together at the San Diego Convention Center in August. For two days, the Aptera exhibit was absolutely swamped with devotees, and John said he couldn't get anywhere near the thing.
Do any analysts think Aptera will make it to production?
It' been a long time coming.

I think Tesla will be the last major domestic automotive manufacturer in the US. Niche markets will exist, to fulfill a niche.

They just got 22 million from California to queue up production. They said they needed 50 so that's a pretty good chunk. I suspect they'll be fully funded to start production pretty quick here, especially since the solar and body lines are already running intermittently.

Yeah that's the Ukrainian business model.
Nothing but begging for money and excuses. Probably some money laundering too.

I disagree, until there is an FTX-style component to the story.
