I would love to see what that kind of work would do to the Zero Motorcycles swing arm and frame.

Look neat, probably very strong... but how about aero?

That was my first thought, when I saw these - and I'm sure they can have a smooth cover added. That cover is needed on almost any wheel, so combined with these wheels, it be the lightest way to go.

The AI software was just following instructions. If aerodynamics was factored as much as light weight, the result might be very different.
My concern would be damage. Over-optimized = fragile.

Could a wheel be made of aircrete? It has enormous compressive strength, though I don't know if it would break apart from centrifugal forces.

Too much tensile stresses. You might be able to cast a disk onto the AI-optimized wheel for aerodynamics.
I'd be looking to weaving basalt fibers under the optimizer's control.
Basalt fiber [is_greater_than] carbon fiber for stressed parts.

That is amazing, how they are controlling the shape with with the way it is woven together.
Basalt fiber wheel cover?

I can only surmise it's some sort of [Clarkian*] magic.
I like https://www.basalt.guru/ for information on basalt but he hasn't posted since last October. Technical comparisons are here: https://smarter-building-systems.com...g-basalt-faqs/

The third law has been reversed for fictional universes involving magic: "Any sufficiently analyzed magic is indistinguishable from science!" or "Any sufficiently arcane magic is indistinguishable from technology."
