The company still has some work to do. It is, for instance, developing software for over-the-air updates.

I'm glad I dodged that $42K bullet. But I was hoping to get in before the whole autonomous craze overtook it. I see an increase in 'attack surface' for hackerz.

Why would hundreds of people put up a $42,000 deposit for a supposedly $12,000 Arcimoto?

They will get handmade units, and they get them first. The lower price comes from production scale. And, maybe they get all the options included?

An Arcimoto photo on Facebook showed 2 Arcimotos with doors open (on roofs) boasting the $12K price. I asked - $12K *with* the doors? No answer. We shall see what comes optional.

It's a base price. Were the two shown actual or CGI (white background)?
A full body, should it exist, is supposed to add $2-3K. I'm more concerned about the Plexiglass windshield being safety glass. And a windshield wiper.
Why do people squirrel things away on Facebook instead of putting them on the open web for everyone?

Yes; possibly a rendering.

Promote interest and see howmany people are really interested enough to comment or contact the business (maybe put down money). Elf starrted out that way- even though I only saw 2, I know they are expanding and have a full assembly line operating.

Facebook isn't a black hole where things go in and never come out. I see things reposted from there all the time. Care to share?
The Portland newspaper said they would have an assembly facility by March. I'm looking forward to a show and tell on Earth Day.

I "liked" Arcimoto's Facebook page, follow this thread, and occasionally go directly to their webpage. The info is the same no matter where you look. freebeard, you have the best information being in the aera and an actual deposit holder. I'm surprised they haven't given you a test drive yet. Maybe you need an official Master ecomodder hat or something.
