I haven't posted anything in quite some time, so that's the only reason it has calmed. I do have info to post this week, so I'll keep you informed about how it goes.

Congrats on taking over TeamZX2! Glad to know it is in good hands

People regularly tell me that driving the speed limit is more dangerous than speeding, but people like to justify breaking the rules the way that they want, but unless you are the fastest person on the road, someone will pass you, and if you are not the slowest driver, then you will pass people, so regardless of the speed that you drive, the total number of passes would be roughly constantly.

Google fun:
Slow drivers 'are among most dangerous on roads' and cause crashes | Daily Mail Online
This talks about people driving under the minimum speed limit in the fast lane. Nobody here advocates that!
Quote:
In New York state, for example, a first-time fine for driving too slowly is $195 — more than some speeding tickets.
"4 types of slow drivers: The distracted, tourists and leaf peepers, the newly licensed, and seniors."

Is Driving Slow so Bad? | WIRED
Quote:
Queensland Transport highlights that driving 25 km/h faster than the surrounding traffic increases your risk of crashing by 10 times, no matter how good you are as a driver.
Quote:
Some research has shown that traveling 20 km/h slower than the surrounding traffic is just as dangerous as traveling 40 km/h faster. In fact low speed drivers are more likely to cause and be involved in an accident than high speed drivers. This has led to a call for both minimum and maximum speed limits to be set and enforced!
[No source and I always say that I would rather be in an accident at or below the speed limit than while speeding]
SPEED THE FACTS (Safe Drive Training)

I am not sure there is any actual information out there, just speeders not wanting anyone in their way. Someone claimed that the faster you drive, the more you focus on the road, while slow drivers were inherently inattentive.

With respect to the thread being addressed here, someone on that thread mentioned a Ford flathead "straight" eight. I don't think that Ford ever made a straight eight. Correct me if I am wrong.

Ford never adopted the straight-8; their entry-level Ford cars used flathead V8 engines until the 1950s while their Lincoln luxury cars used V8 from the 1930s to the 1980s and V12 engines in the 1930s and 1940s.

I try to avoid mainstream meat-head forums. When I briefly owned a Jeep, I had to correct some misinformation about fuel economy on their forum. That didn't go over so well.

I think this quote sums it up nicely:

“Never argue with stupid people, they will drag you down to their level and then beat you with experience.”
