I would consider it a compliment.

We are a small, misunderstood community. They sell more airtime, magazines, etc. with horsepower and track times. Since they decided to poke fun instead of applauding your efforts, then your efforts themselves are a statement against their immaturity -- I say bravo.

A good vehicle program/magazine would appreciate both power and thrift. Many of us are rehabilitated power modders that still enjoy a quick drive now and then.

IIRC, isn't your average highway speed close to 70 mph? Hmm. Speed and efficiency. Perhaps too much for some to grasp.

Always remember that you have the support from where it counts the most

I average 60 to 65mph on the interstates, or whatever the posted speed limit is. I normally run at the speed limit on the interstates except on uphills where I'll let the speed drop 5 to 10mph if traffic allows in order to stay in lean burn and on the downhill coasts where I'll let the speed up to what the other traffic is doing. My car attracts enough attention from the cops without adding speeding to the mix as well. But every once in the while I'll get a wild hair and run in the left lane with the fast traffic, and the occasional dash to beat a thunderstorm home.

I wouldn't want to go wider than OEM. According to the USFRA website you need narrow tires for racing on the salt. Wider tires tend to hydro (aero) plane as air gets trapped under them at speed and don't provide good control on the somewhat softish dried salt pavement.
