Yikes! I hope your ankle comes back to 100%.
No need to be embarrassed about dropping your bike, as every motorcycle's lowest energy state is when it's laying on it's side.
There's two types of motorcycle riders... those who have NOT been riding very long, and those who have 'laid it down'!
Heal up quick and keep building!

I was riding for something like 10 years before I laid my bike down... and I laid it down because I lost all brakes and needed to not hit the tree in front of me while riding in the yard on a Ninja 600... I'm not sure what you consider a long time, but 10 years is more than a tenth of the average lifespan. :P

It's a good thing that he is in the US as 1.000mi =1mi
Glad you are not hurt to bad. Are you going to add roll bars to the bike to keep it off you if that happens again?

I actually HAVE been looking at the metal loops on the front of some motorcycles recently. Seems like a good idea for keeping the bike off my ankles. I like the simple style of my motorcycle, but me being the widest thing on it doesn't seem so smart.
When I test rode the Brammo Enertia, I noticed that the sides were flat, and the bike was very narrow. It did have plastic side covers, so I suppose that if you laid it down, at least the weight would be spread out.
I think one of the biggest parts of what I did was that one of the frame members lined up exactly on my ankle.

Ended up riding my cycle quite a bit this summer. Man is it fun.
My left ankle still aches, and it's a little harder to find a new pair of shoes than it used to be. (Both feet just AREN'T the same anymore!)
Anyways, I'm still at it!
