Best tank and long trip so far

Filled up 175 miles downstate Friday night. Drove home, then some running around here on Saturday. Then drove 150 miles downstate Sunday and back here. Filled up at the local station. Guino showed 39.84 mpg for the 142 mile trip back. Since it read 5% high on fuel use like the typical average, it meant I was getting about 41.8 mpg. Actual tank average was 38.6, best tank ever. Speed was about 50 average.

This is with the airdam back on, and with the front tires at 40 and rears at 30. Also with the other existing mods (wheel discs, wiper cowl cover, grille block). One thing that may have made a difference was I realized I had the drivers window open 1/4 and the rear passenger window open 1/4. There was a thread awhile back where someone said it worked for them.

Not much time left in this season but next summer hopefully some sort of kammback, plus skinnier tires and aligned front end will get me over 40 mpg more often. I think pretty good for a 20 year old car with 190k, V6 and automatic.

Thats really great. I've been driving a 93 Tarus with the 3.0L around lately since the Paseo's exhaust is shot. I'm still working on breaking 30 mpg in it!

40+ mpg is fantastic! Congrats.

Kammback that puppy next year and you'll be good for another 3-5% @ 55 mph, I'm guessing.

Way to go wagonman. Hopefully when I finally get my MPGuino kit and get it put together, I can see my mpg's going up again. Winter is going to suck tho.
