Man, I hate to hear that you lost your place.
I have a couple of friends in Joplin. I hate tornadoes worse than anyone, I can't imagine how you must feel.
It's gonna work out man, hang in there.

I felt the same after crashing my car into a street lamp post, almost 20 years ago.
Detached - as if it had happened to someone else.
Some people get hysteric when the $h!t really hits the fan, some get cooler than ever and do what needs to be done.
I hope you can get everything sorted soon.
At least you can recover many of your things.
Many tornado survivors are left with nothing more than the foundations of their homes and the clothes they were wearing

The recovery of mostly finished, just cleaning of the stuff and testing to ensure it's functional.
Can't clean anything til after tuesday, insurance adjuster said no.
Salvage rates, I might see about $400 from the siding and wiring. Salvaging fixtures, switches, and sockets where possible. Toilet is intact, will pull that and the kitchen sink.
Code inspector comes Wednesday to look at the two places they offered us... Doubt either will pass inspection...

Funny enough, herbie was parked next to the exposed tongue of the mobile home, and it literally flung itself up and over the car, best i can tell, because if it were a normal fall, herbie would have been in the direct path of the tongue. Completely unscathed.
I didn't mention that the firemen were led than interested in searching for our dog, tequila, as soon as they figured out that she isa pit bull...

Christ -
Very bad news but you're handling it well. It sounds like you are able to pull out of your context and "observe yourself" as a third party observer. You don't have a choice regarding some of the things that happen to you, but you do have a choice on how you *react* to what happens to you. Very Vulcan of you.
I would try to compare my Dad's situations with what happens to other people. He would say "yes, but it's happening to ME!!!!".
PS - I think Herbie moved out of the way in his own. Cars named Herbie tend to do that, you know.

The dog was in the bathroom with a washer full of my clothes and water.
Clearly, she's house trained... As soon as we got her out, she used the lawn for it's only logical purpose.
Regardless to whatever trauma she suffered, she's just as dumb as ever.
She's staying at my Fathers house for now, until we get a stable place where we can have her.
