Very sorry to hear about that. Glad everyone is OK.
I used to live in Joplin and went down there for about a week to volunteer with the cleanup effort. As devastated as the area is, humor and hope are keeping people on the up and up.
For example, most of the homes had spray painted info on them (address, shelter info, insurance, etc.). One home had damage to all but one bedroom, so the side of the home was spray painted with "Room for rent!"
Another home, missing it's roof and some walls, had a sign that read, "Open floor plan, skylight."

The park has given us a trailer in need of some repairs, but still structurally sound and newer than we had before.
The cleanup is almost done, just raking, shoveling, and moving the frame left to do at this point.
The park manager (disgruntled employee) is buying all the $400 in pex and fittings we need to plumb the place, and doing it on the park's dime. I'm cool with it.
Things starting to get better, even with the very limited help we've received thus far.
If anyone would like to send a card, funny comic, whatever (fridge, stove, washer/dryer? Anyone? Lol) you can send them to:

I'M NOT ASKING THAT ANYONE SEND/GIVE ANYTHING. IF YOU WANT TO HELP, HELP IS APPRECIATED.
If you're sending anything larger than a large envelope by mail, pm me so I can notify the owner of that address to expect it.

Hopefully, the end of this week.
All that's needed is to install the plumbing and smoke detectors, then we can move in. It'll still need an entry door and a couple windows, but those can be done while we're living there, just like the flooring, etc.
Now is the time that I'll be installing an on demand water heater in the kitchen, so that heated water doesn't have to travel 40 feet through 3/4" plumbing full of air temp water before it gets to the faucet.
We got a referral from RedCross to purchase a stove and fridge from the salvation army, and those are both simple installations.
I have a spare nat gas heater if the one that's there doesn't work, and a spare electric water heater, in case the tank heater isn't working properly.
I just realized today that we've been driving on expired registration since the end of April... Renewed that today, going to get that car inspected as well, and Herbie was supposed to get inspected today, but won't, because SafeLite can't get the windshield seal until Monday, even though they scheduled me for this afternoon...

Goodwill and Habitat for Humanity ReStores are also helpful, if they're in your area. The ReStore would have new or in-good-condition hardware and building supplies. Hours & Directions | Greater Lycoming Habitat for Humanity

I'm grateful for your input on this forum, and I have to say too that your calm is really cool. Hang in there and good luck!

I haven't had a chance to visit yet, but there's a discount builders store that selfs factory seconds and buyouts cheap... A basic pre hung entry door is $150, usable laminate flooring can be had for $1 sqft, etc. most of the defect products have marks where you won't notice once installed.

Hey Christ,
I haven't checked in here a while so this is news to me. I'm sorry for your loss. Glad to hear you and your family are all physically OK.
You are a trooper. Keep on truckin'
