Picked this up at a garage sale-flea market sponsored by a Catholic church-day care center. I saw the signs passing through on my way to another sale that was a waste of time.
It must have been kept in doors, just sitting for decades, but fortunately everything cleaned up very nice. Even the chain was not rusty. Another one where the chrome was salvageable without pitting.
Even the tires (Specialist replacements) have held air for 24 hours at 50 PSI. Chicago made boys Schwinns are hard to find. It was $150 new. Pop bought me one when I was 13 and paid $75 for it in 1963, which was equal to over $500 today as silver coins of the same age are worth 14 times face value.
Cost me $10.
regards
Mech

I have the same bike. In the late 90's I converted to a single speed fixed gear bike. Rode countless more centuries on it. It has been converted back to its 10 speed glory. It made a better fixie than 10 speed. No flex even at 190 cadence at 40 mph.

My commuter bike broke so I've been riding the '63 to work... here is this morning. The vintage front rack is invaluable. One new Kenda S-7 tire on the front because I accidentally only ordered one! It's miles better than the flat section tire I had on before.

Zoom, zoom! The seat position is not the most efficient but likely comfy.

I rode my bike 28.2 miles yesterday, and left my car in the driveway all day. :-)

Took the recycling out like I always do, but thought I'd share a pic. The trailer is a Kmart kiddie trailer converted toa flat bed. Carrying a toboggan for a friend and two bins of recycling which is a 4 mile ride up and back
Also sold my green 74 varsity and have been working on the orange 73. I did my first bar tape job on this (back close to stock color) and some adjustments this weekend. Rode it to work today. It's fun but I'm glad I have the commuter.
