I am going to ask if any one can tell me what difference between lower crank pulley and harmonic balancer pulley.? If I or someone replaces harmonic crank pulley with aluminum pulley how do you get it to be harmonic balance for a given engine. ??

I am told the 1.5L civics did not have these balancers in the crank pulley. The 1.6L does. Something about harmonics, vibrations, and the size of the engine. But I am not well-informed on it. Sorry I'm not more helpful. Maybe someone else has a better answer.

Bad engine mount, stuck tensioner bolt magic
Replaced the front engine mount (hadn't realized how bad it was):
Finally got the stuck timing belt tensioner bolt out, using the AWESOME Irvin "bolt-grip" socket I bought. Here is the bolt still stuck to the awesome socket:
The AWESOME socket in the "flesh"

Yeah, I have a few of those bolt extractors like that. They are a God send when you need them.

I have a craftsman set of those and the last time I used it was on my 98 civic, the oil drain plug was probably put on with an impact gun and use couldn't get the bolt out! I ended up taking it to a shop and brought my oil and filter and they wouldn't use my stuff, like I expected.

[QUOTE=Baltothewolf;438578]Hi Cacivic, what RPM do you see at 70mph with that CX tranny? I'm trying to find out what I will be running with the VX tranny I bought....QUOTE]
I did the calculations on 5th gear @ 70 before based on my EX speedo:
5th gen CX/VX: 70mph ~2,300rpm (3.25:1 Final Drive)
6th gen CX/HX/DX/LX: 70mph ~2,640rpm (3.722:1 Final Drive)
6th gen EX Coupe: 70mph ~3,000rpm (4.25:1 Final Drive)

Cool. But one question and one correction: what were the wheel tire sizes? and the 6th Gen DX coupe and I think the LX too have a 4.058 final drive. The DX hatch had the 3.722 FD in the sixth gen, though.

Thanks! I apprecitate the encouragement. I try to include success, failure, and the learning... for a log of what I do and also to help others. Thanks again.

Yeah, thank you for starting a mod thread, good place to share info.
I got my final drive ratios off the internets, so....
My info says the 5th gen DX/LX have 4.058:1 and 6th gen 3door EX Hatch (? If they made one?) had the 4.058:1, while the 6th gen DX/LX have 3.722:1.
My tire size is stock 185/65-14
Formula for top speed:
Engine RPM x Tire DIAM (inch) ÷ Final Drive Ratio ÷ Trans Gear Ratio x 0.002975
For my '99 EX:
185/65-14 ~23.7"
FD: 4.25
5th gear .702
So 5th gear 3,000rpm = 70.9mph
Some manufacturers tachs read high, so they are not always accurate
