I'm using the Rustoleum Peel Paint version of vinyl coating.
The gap isn't as tight as the picture shows on the fronts since it was taken from high above. They rubbed a little on the front edges and, embarrassingly, when I gave my in-laws a ride. I had 1/4 inch gap but once the vehicle was loaded down that gap disappeared and the gap fillers got pulled off into the wheel wells
I cut another inch off to open them up and so far its been golden.
Since the brackets are clamped onto the wheel well lip just by the tension in the stainless alone no real damage was done. I reoriented the brackets that twisted on the Lexan and tighten the gaps on a few of them an all is well.
