BLADE tailpipe attachment?

The FE gains claimed carry a whiff of unicorns, but because they claim they used an independent testing agency approved by EPA and CARB, I paused: the testing by a California lab apparently showed a 12% FE gain, "no back-pressure," and significant pollution reduction. What do you think? Worth an ABA test?
What Is BLADE?

Here's an old thread on same :

http://ecomodder.com/forum/showthrea...30-a-3118.html

If it had 0 effect on MPG but really did help emissions, I'd be willing to waste up to $50 on it. But it goes from $125 to $200, which is nuts for chrome + stuffing.

Sorry. I might have added to that thread if I had known of it. Should have searched first. But that thread started in June 2008 and closed Oct 28, 2008. The testing the manufacturer had done is dated Oct 7 2008. Here is the full report. Clearly 12% FE gains are BOGUS given the report, but modest gains, on a 2004 Civic 3.7% "city" and 6.0% "hwy" are reported... and for other cars as well. A Lincoln actually lost urban FE. Take a look. But I have to agree... the pollution benefits alone would be worth a more modest price but not what they are asking. I have other projects ...

My car is up for inspection. I fell for this useless piece of tin many years ago and bought one.
I still have it.
If the inspection station will let me have a free emissions test for science sake, I can do an A - B test of the thing.
I almost threw it away a couple of days ago. I took it off the car ages ago and found that it did so little that i hadn't realized it was even there.
I completely forgot that I had the thing installed.

Hello -

I went to the website that tested the product and found this :

Automotive Testing and Development Services - Our Clients

We have also worked with a variety of major automotive industry suppliers, including:
- Umicore
Umicore? Sounds suspicious to me, .

Well what they mean when they say that they worked for a variety of major automotive industry suppliers, is that they worked there as a janitor at the warehouse

Haha! Okay. But I looked up Umicore using Startingpage Search Engine and came up with this:
Automotive Catalysts :: Umicore Automotive Catalysts first page they have mining operations that seem linked to a global automotic catalyst R&D business. I would think that clinet citation supports the integrity of the testing agency, not undermines it. What makes you suspicious?

Hee hee, I was only joking. I am thinking of contacting them to see if they did author the report.
