BMW i3 battery upgrade

Hi all,
Did a battery upgrade on a BMW i3 REX, it went from 60AH to 120AH (42.2kWh). I still have to do some coding to get it out of power restricted mode, but really nice to see that these upgrades are possible, and almost plug'n'play!

I'll make a longer video with more details once I get the coding done!

So, does the i3 base its state of charge off of voltage? That is, simply adding more modules to it (in parallel) works?

I know with most hybrids based on nickel chemistries, doubling the amp hours doesn't increase the usable capacity because the computers have to track state of charge through an amp meter and a computer model of battery capacity, since voltage isn't an indicator of state of charge.

No, same amount of modules, just more power dense. 18.2kWh -> 37.9kWh would be a better way to put it instead of 60-120Ah. Weight was increased with 75kg with this upgrade.

The 'Guess-O-Meter', as we like to call it, automatically adjusts to recent driving efficiency data, and the voltage is the same, so state of charge is effectively identical in that regard.
