No big surprise there. Once you get into the bigger trucks with air brakes you get guys who cant work an automatic and air brakes to get the truck moving or parked. Wheres parked is what they all say. Just shift to N and set the air brakes.

Big shock? The amount of people who prefer to drive manuals is dropping every day. Americans are too lazy and too distracted to have to worry about actually driving their cars. Start car -> mash gas -> try (very little) to not hit anything is the recipe for driving these days. I love my manual but since I don't think I'll ever buy a new car, I don't think I'm helping the situation padding the numbers for people who buy manuals. I know quite a few people who have though in the last few years and all of them had to track down the closest lot with a manual in stock and basically buy whatever they had with little to no hope of customizing. These cars were a Fit, Fiesta and Elantra.


Still a sad day tho

I will rebuild Black and Green over decades as parts die, until it becomes a different car of roughly the same shape and color. My minimum fuel economy goal is 55 mpg while averaging posted speed limits. I generally top 60 mpg. See also my Honda manual transmission specs thread.

Seems like Venezuela is the only country where Ford still has a manual transmission option for the F-350...

Yep, people are too addicted to those friggin smartphones to be bothered with such a cumbersome task. They just don't have time to actually drive their cars (oops,trucks) anymore.

If Ford is planning on using a transmission similar to the one on my Fiesta, then I guess I could handle that although I doubt I will ever buy another F150, when the old Ranger is ony seeing 300 miles in two months.

Really? I drove 2 different Fiesta autos when I was delivering auto parts a couple years ago and they were TERRIBLE. From my understanding they are "automated manuals". Accelerating from a stop was always slightly delayed and you could hear the clutch making noise. Shifts were OK but if you were coasting at say 5mph and needed to stomp on the gas, to pull into traffic from a cross street or parking lot, the car had no idea what to do. Mash the gas and NOTHING happened for half a second, then the engine revved really high and after that the trans finally propelled the wheels. Scary stuff when you are jumping out in front of a loaded dump truck. I'll keep the old slush box any day of week over those piles of elephant dung. Unless Ford fixed the "confused" trans syndrome I can't see how anyone would like those transmissions. Sorry for the thread hijack.
