If the upstairs window were a little larger, it just might work.

No upstairs, I was thinking a skylight.
I mentioned this to mom, she asked "A what?" and I showed her the video that I had ready on my laptop.
She said that it would be too much work.
Hey, what are you supposed to expect from a UPS? It seems like mine starts beeping as soon as I lose power and doesn't give me enough time to shut down my desktop. I remember needing to unplug my computer and plug it into an outlet six feet away.
It didn't make it.
I woke up 20-30 minutes ago to the UPS beeping. I really didn't want to get up, but that was the responsible thing, right? I looked for my glasses for a moment, gave up, woke up my desktop, closed a couple of programs, and the UPS died.
I wonder if I could have closed everything had I found my glasses right away and could read the screen without getting 4" away.

Run the ups off a car sized battery, at least you'll get longer runs before it shuts down.

It turns out the Raspberry Pi 400 doesn't have a camera port.

No but it does have a high speed old fashioned serial port and an USB or two.

I wasn't going to respond, but:
Quote:
Raspberry Pi 400 specification
Broadcom BCM2711 quad-core Cortex-A72 (ARM v8) 64-bit SoC @ 1.8GHz
4GB LPDDR4-3200
Dual-band (2.4GHz and 5.0GHz) IEEE 802.11b/g/n/ac wireless LAN
Bluetooth 5.0, BLE
Gigabit Ethernet
2 × USB 3.0 and 1 × USB 2.0 ports
Horizontal 40-pin GPIO header
2 × micro HDMI ports (supports up to 4Kp60)
H.265 (4Kp60 decode); H.264 (1080p60 decode, 1080p30 encode); OpenGL ES 3.0 graphics
MicroSD card slot for operating system and data storage
78- or 79-key compact keyboard (depending on regional variant)
5V DC via USB connector
Operating temperature: 0°C to +50°C ambient
Maximum dimensions 286 mm × 122 mm × 23 mm

For me the whole reason for getting one ($70 if you bring you own mouse and cables) is the 40-pin GPIO header. This is bare metal access. I could make my own fembot. Mu-ha-ha-ha.
The downside is audio over HDMI, and no port for the Raspberry camera lineup. Also, I'd field strip it and paint that raspberry pink case.

I am helping Mom's friend. I keep trying to figure out how to get her and her son approved for attendant care, not that I remembered the name.
I needed to look it up.
Quote:
The DES does not offer any type of program or service by which a caregiver will be paid to care for a spouse, relative, neighbor, other loved one or another person.
|
https://des.az.gov/services/older-ad...egiver-support
They explain that if you get the loved one approved for services you can get hired with an agency to provide services for them.
I don't see anyone advertising for attendant care, but I am confident that I can find one or more places nearby.
I am also confident that it will pay the minimum wage and that Mom won't be back from her hair appointment I before I finish this post.
I am supposed to make up an appointment with a client half an hour away that was asleep on Friday.
I should start writing that text now...
I have tried looking up how much the state pays. I have started looking into starting my own agency. If I hire an SLPA I can do speech therapy. I can do habilitation with my brother for a little more than $20.
In theory I could pay my brother's provider $15 an hour, but mom says she doesn't deserve it.
Mom was only a few minutes late, but she canceled her hair appointment, so I get to hear about that for a while.
