Do you have cable or DSL?
My preference is to purchase standalone modems (either cable or DSL) that don't even have wifi capability, and purchase the wifi router separately. This allows me to switch between cable and DSL to constantly be on a 1 year new account promotion without having to configure my network each time. It also allows me to upgrade the wifi stuff periodically without having to change the modem. It certainly saves me from a monthly rental fee for their garbage equipment.
The 3600 sq/ft 2 story house has full wifi coverage including in the garage and back yard due to centrally locating the router. Every house is different, but I always start by locating the router optimally first, and then addressing coverage problems later. So far I've not required a repeater in any of 4 places I've set up a network.

In the 1990s I had a modem that had a separable wi-fi module that clipped onto the side of it. I liked that. Can't find an example image, I don't even remember the brand.

My $40 Asus AC1900 router seems to struggle with the ~45 IoT connected devices in my house. I'm sure freebeard is impressed that I can't pass gas in my own house without Google knowing.
Anyhow, I've been holding out for Wi-Fi 6E. It will be nice to perform a WiFi survey and find nobody else operating in the 6GHz band. Of course that won't help with the silly number of devices that require a 2.4GHz connection, but a newer faster router couldn't hurt.

Here is a router and modem combination for $90: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B012I96J3W..._ep7JFb5SKZTC5
I couldn't get my brother to take care of a few things so we could work on the stump before I saw four clients and then it was dark. I had him fill a garbage can with pieces of wood and I leveled the stump:

I blame Google.

That way when you decide to switch to DSL to get back to $30/mo service, it's as simple as purchasing a DSL modem and telling the cable provider to kick rocks.
Might as well get a DSL modem while you're at it so you can threaten cable credibly.
VDSL2 modem $20
Maybe soon you can threaten everyone with StarLink.

Interesting. I thought DDG doesn't filter bubble it's users. It was at least three layers deep. Duck Duck Go instead of Google

Microsoft lost that, and yet is is really difficult to remove their bloatware from win 10 and have a functioning OS (which is patched XP, (which is patched 2000))

The Microsoft antitrust lawsuit doesn't make any sense.
1. They lost their claim that including IE in their OS was fundamental to their architecture and thus lost the lawsuit
2. Their OS continued to contain IE as the default browser to this day
3. Despite these practices, they only hold 13% of the browser market share
4. Netscape didn't die, it reincarnated as Firefox
What was the point of the lawsuit again considering these outcomes? I'd feel like a dolt in hindsight if I had been the one to bring charges against MS.

I understood the irony, but that's also because I Googled the latest Google news.
Perhaps DDG algorithm simply changed the results 10min later when I clicked your link again, rather than adjust the results by profiling me.
