Yep, a couple of people on Facebook noticed the similarity, as well.

HAHAHA, that Lexus is beginning to look like my wagon!
I've got certain parts covered with cardboard.
They work but sure is a PITA when it rains, I'm guessing my VW is partially recycling itself as it goes down the road ! LOLOLOL
(BTW, just noticed..., I've hit 100 posts finally!)

It is dormant - I am still intending to do work, but I lack the garage space. Recently, I realized though, that I could do something to cut the suspension out of the 1993 Saab 900 I have had sitting in my yard. My neighbors would probably appreciate that.
For that, I need to scare up some car stands and get to work!

I remember when you were trying to put up a lean-to in the middle of winter.
I'm trying to prototype a free-form framing system made of metal tubes bent in hexagons. I'll keep you informed.

Interesting, sounds stronger and simpler to build, but harder to DIY than bolting together a bunch of hexagons made from conduit with the ends hammered flat and drilled. I'd go for either from a cookbook or user-friendly design tool. Figuring all the different lengths in advance to make a geodesic tunnel rather than a dome was beyond my skill level.

Actually, it's 10' lengths of Cyclone fence top rail bent into hexagons with a 20" edge. If it was conduit I'd be done already; I've already destroyed two forms but I think I'm about ready to start amassing materials.
A tunnel would have four bent tips, a dome would have six.

I did build a temporary shelter as I was finishing gluing all the layers into the chassis. It was about 15' tall, and extended out the front of the garage. I built it out of 2 bundles of 16' 1x3 strapping and a 30'x60' tarp. It lasted through one winter (with a number of snow storms), and collapsed on the 1st snow storm of the 2nd winter.
I'll take a picture of the hut my brother is going to give me.
