Used V8s are pretty cheap in the US but they aren't very economical stock

What about used Prius engines? I'd bet most people don't mess with used hybrid parts...mainly because of intimidation.

You might already know, some members of this forum tried something a few steps further and sticked the entire drivetrain of Priuses into older cars...

Well, now that Toyota is resorting to an Atkinson-ish approach in the engine of the Euro-spec Yaris, it wouldn't surprise me at all if more people get to try a Prius engine into a non-hybrid.
