Nope. You need the battery to drive.

I was thinking about a prius but that battery thing hmmm....
2001 Prius 180k miles $800
https://washingtondc.craigslist.org/...011849480.html
Car is currently immobile due to bad hybrid battery.
However, every other component - Inverter, Transmission, Engine are fully functional.
The water pump was replaced last year and the transmission was serviced. The coolants were also flushed.
All a new owner needs is the hybrid battery to put the car back on the road. To make the job easy, I have removed the old one.

The transmission of a Prius is the most expense component,
so if that is bad, I would not pay too much for the car.
New they are ~$2600, and even used from junkyards they want a lot for them, so buying another car with something else wrong with it is the only good way to get one.
Well, let me add, if the MG2 stator is bad a new one is $900, which isn't too bad.
The battery is not too much of an issue.

Yeah, those two would be up my alley, if the prices aren't set in stone.

I'd absolutely consider one with a dead pack, but it would have to be a local car, and I've seen no local ones yet. That's a disadvantage of living in a small town with few Prii running around.
All 6 prospects I've considered so far were 1-2 hours away.

Doesn't add up. But if it's for real, it's already sold. Guaranteed.

The prius seems like a good car but is already at its peak potential. They get 51 mpg out of the box but don't seem to go higher than that.
I think I would just keep an eye out for a manual transmission Camry or accord or corolla
