Nice -- seems to have worked! But put in another call for a few more, please.
Also, the car + tail will be taking its maiden highway voyage this weekend, minus the fender skirt transition, so not fully optimized.

Nice update.
How many hours would you say you have into the tail thus far?

I am quite certain that sooner or later, someone will say "You know that will not work, right?" and they will not care the slightest bit about established practices and A-B-A methodology, they think that innovation by individuals is exhausting.

No doubt!

Oh, man. You had to ask. I'm going to guess ~40 hours where I was inside the garage and either looking at it or working on it. And ~20 hours where I was actually doing something productive.
Ready for this weekend's road trip! I still have a few more things I'd like to do (fender skirts, reflective tape on the transom), but I now have full operational "tail lights", so this will do for now:

Is there an established relationship between boat tails and tailgaters?

tail-lights . Tail-gaters
keep 'em coming :-)
Metro, that shape is beautiful. Nice craftmanship with such primitive materials !
What's the plan with the end of the tail ? ( the section that gets too 'fast' )
Also, IIRC you mentioned that here seemed to be a lot of turbulence from the wheel wells and the front of the car. This has me puzzled, since the wheel gap is so small, and you have wheel covers on.
Care to explain more on this ?
