Apparently if I make a critical comment about a public figure I can be sued for a million dollars. This is not a good precedent to set. It will not stand up in supreme court, because that court will preserve the 1st amendment; the very thing neo-authoritarians attack the most.
I would suggest it's the Second Amendment, which protects the First.

Complete agreement, but it's not a legal option for me. Also, it's a dying trend.

In our abundance, men are told to not exude masculinity. Women do not demand it. Males do not present as formidable, and the culture drifts feminine; nurturing and accepting anything. It will persist for a time until suffering demands masculinity, with formidable characters, and a rejection of disfunction.

Women are the future in every sense of meaning. We just loath those traditional facts about them and impose a masculine value system, while simultaneously denigrating masculinity.

As an aside, about 10 years ago I was in an auto parts store and saw a fella walk in with a 6-shooter on his hip. What struck me was how unusual that was, and how that should be so common that nobody would notice. After all, so many conceal carry that you're unaware, but the fact that people are bringing a level of security to a place should be the norm.

A safe space is one in which citizens can make safe by force, not by soothing music and pillows.

I don't understand the 'dying trend' part. There's the Bruen decision ('history and tradition'), and I have hopes that 'common sense' will encompass supressors for everyone's hearing protection.

I am curious about your opinion of this: An Alternative to Cap & Ball For Self Defense

Culture is increasingly trending feminine, as I stated. Part of that trend is abandoning personal responsibility to secure safety and orderliness. We're meant to accept victimhood from a disordered society, Rittenhouse aside.

Went to Target yesterday in Salem, and plastic toys were locked behind glass. This is the level of disorder we are accepting, that plastic Legos are secured like jewelry, because society has murdered the dads.

Agreed. Then there's the fact that laws are only regarded by law-abiding citizens. Can't see someone getting arrested because their firearm wasn't loud enough.

I'll give it a listen. My sister carries a 5-shooter, and the simplicity of operation is the selling point for her. In general though, firearms should have a magazine, because security demands being on at least equal playing field with the threat. I'm sure you've seen videos where full mag dumps either entirely miss, or barely wound.

I'm allowed to carry a high powered air rifle (recently learned they can be as powerful as other rifles), or a compound bow, or a samurai sword.

Anyhow, the point of being formidable isn't to throw weight around, but to deter violence in the first place; a simple fact so many don't get. Anecdotally, the biggest guys I know are the kindest, most gentle people. They don't get antagonized like the smaller guys, so they don't have to act aggressively for respect to be maintained.

Society needs to honor cool-headed, formidable masculinity that enforces boundaries, mostly just by speaking.

I think we're in the 'Create hard times' phase.

Without a doubt, which is why I advocate for speeding through this phase as quickly as possible.

My question is, when did we begin to enter the phase? End of WWII? I imagine my whole life has been lived in this phase at least. My family was relatively poor, but all our needs were more than met.

... or was it more recent, like the fall of the USSR?

I'm interested yet also over it. If the weather isn't in the top 100 list of things that made things sucky for me over time, then it's not on my radar. If it is within the top 100 list of sucky things, then I should consider moving to where it doesn't impose upon me so much.

"Doing taxes" is in my top 10 PITA. Property taxes seems foolish to me. Expanding federal authority is a mistake. Feminizing masculinity and masculinizing femininity is dumb. Somewhere in the hundreds is my concern for the outdoor thermostat.

I was well pleased this last Winter with the insulated aircrewman coverall I got at Goodwill for $24.

I've had an East German sniper's walk-around mummy bag for decades.
